UPDATES IN RHEUMATOLOGY & NEUROLOGY: PRACTICAL PEARLS

Since the inception of ACPM's online seminars in November of 2021, the education committee has made a commitment to recruit experts of various medical disciplines and backgrounds to participate as distinguished faculty members.

  • Appreciate the key clinical findings of neurologic disorders affecting the lower extremity

  • Identify successful conservative management strategies for the rheumatoid foot including shoe wear

  • Identify indications for surgical reconstruction of the rheumatoid foot

  • Learn the most common complications from rheumatoid foot surgical reconstruction and strategies to avoid these complications

  • Outline the key pedal manifestations of seronegative arthropathies and hallmarks for treatment 

  • Appreciate the vast differential diagnosis for peripheral neuropathy and diagnostic testing to narrow the diagnosis
  • Distinguish the risks / benefits to recent advances in topical treatments of diabetic neuropathy

Whitney is this year's ACPM Scholar Award winner from Arizona School of Podiatric Medicine at Midwestern University.

Whitney was selected based on her superior work on "PER Ankle Fracture and Associated Syndesmotic Rupture in a Professional Athlete".

The ACPM Scholarship Committee selects one winner from each of the ten podiatric medical schools. Winners receive a $1,000 cash prize and a copy of the ACPM Review Text in Podiatric Orthopedics & Medicine (3rd Ed.)

Peter "Andrew" Crisologo
DPM, FACPM, AACFAS, FASPS, FFPM RCPS (Glasg.)

Dr. Crisologo is board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and holds the Certificate of Added Qualification in Amputation Prevention and Wound Care. He is a fellow of the American College of Podiatric Medicine, American Society of Podiatric Surgeons, and was appointed as fellow faculty of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.

Dr. Crisologo is a member of the board of directors of the American College of Podiatric Medicine and the American Board of Podiatric Medicine. Dr. Crisologo is proud to serve with the American College of Podiatric Medicine as the educational mission of the College allows him to pursue his lifelong goal of podiatric education and research.

We are excited to launch a new resource for our Fellows and Members.

The ACPM Reference library is a collection of podiatric texts and articles that have been noted as key research tools for the profession.

Please note - the Reference Library is a "work-in-progress" and will be in a continuous state of flux. Our team is actively working to add resources to the Library in the most salient areas of research for the podiatric profession.
