Leaders in the Field is a quarterly communication celebrating Fieldstone Leadership Network San Diego members,

their contributions to and achievements in

our community.

The Prebys Leadership Awards, formerly Leaders in Belonging, annually recognizes five leaders with a track record of promoting well-being for San Diego County. Each leader receives a $100,000 grant to support their work in the fields of arts and culture, healthcare, medical research, and youth success.



This year’s recipients include two members of Fieldstone Leadership Network San Diego: Andrew Carey, the Executive Director of the US-Mexico Border Philanthropy Partnership, leads a visionary team dedicated to cross-border collaboration with the mission of improving the lives of communities along the US-Mexico border; and Ben McCue the Executive Director of Outdoor Outreach who has made remarkable strides in the field of outdoor education and environmental stewardship providing youth with opportunities for growth, development, and to find themselves.


Andy and Ben have are both graduates of our Executive Learning Group program.

Congratulations to Sally Cox for being selected as Leader of the Year by the San Diego East County Chamber Of Commerce. The award was presented to Sally at the Chambers gala in February.


Sally currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation for Grossmont & Cuyamaca Colleges. She is a graduate of our learning group program and is currently being coached in our Coaching Program.

Ana Gozalez Seda has a new role as the Center Director for the Braille Institute in San Diego. The Braille Institute supports those who are affected by vision loss by providing tailored programs and services which foster independence and hope.


Ana is a graduate of our Learning Group Program and is a current participant in our Coaching Program.

Congratulations to De Milo Young on her recent completion of the 30-hour Heart-Centered Connections Practitioner Certificate Program through USD's School of Leadership and Education Sciences. The training centered applied educational neuroscience and a trauma-informed, embodied approach to supporting neurodivergent learners. De Milo will be continuing to the Level 2 Facilitator Training shortly.


De Milo is the Executive Director of the BIPOC Support Foundation and a graduate of our Coaching and our Leadership Reading Group Programs.

Peter Callstrom has begun a new role as the Executive Director of The Burn Institute. The Burn Institute's mission is to educate and inspire our communities to reduce burn injuries and empower those affected by burn trauma.



Peter is a long-time member of our Network,


having graduated from a Fieldstone Learning


Group.


Congratulations to Rhea Van Brocklin on earning her Executive MBA from Quantic School of Business and Technology. Rhea will officially celebrate her graduation in April. Rhea serves as the Executive Director of Christie's Place which aims to is strengthening the health and resilience of women, children and families impacted by HIV/AIDS.



Rhea is a graduate of our Executive Learning Group and


Coaching programs and currently serves as a Fieldstone


Coach. She was also on the faculty of LAUNCH.

Save and happy travels to Jessica Toth and everyone working at the Solana Center as they begin their Clare Rose Sabbatical experience on April 1st.


Jessica and her team have been preparing for this capacity building exercise since last June.


Congratulations to Paddle for Peace as they celebrate their fifth anniversary. Paddle for Peace works to diversify The coast by breaking down barriers and connecting underserved youth to the ocean’s transformative and healing power. Paddle for Peace believe that the ocean is not only a place of joy and adventure but a source of deep healing—for people, for communities, and for the planet.



Paddle for Peace was founded by Risa Bell who recently graduated from our LAUNCH program for early career executive directors.

Susan Arias has been promoted to Chief Growth Officer (CGO) at MAAC. This is a key role designed to drive MAAC’s expansion, scale, strengthen partnerships, and position the community organization for long-term sustainability. MAAC is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year.


Susan is a graduate of our Learning Group program.

On March 7th, Community Advocates for Just and Moral Governance celebrated its fifth anniversary with their first ever gala. Founded by Geneviéve Jones-Wright, Esq., LL.M., MoGo is committed to the principle that an effective government is one where transparency, accountability, and a strong sense of responsibility to all its constituents are paramount. It’s thier belief that our government truly functions at its best when it ensures complete accessibility for all individuals.


Geneviéve recently graduated from our LAUNCH program for early career executive directors.


Heather Ginsky, CNP, has been promoted to Major Gifts Officer at Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest.

Heather is a 2024 graduate of our Nonprofit Leaders Learning Group.


Julia Foster, CFRE, MBA, has joined Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest as a Major Gifts Officer. Julie is also continuing her practice as a development consultant in the cultural arts and other fields.

Julia is a graduate of our Nonprofit Leaders Learning Group, participating when she served as the Development Director at the La Jolla Playhouse.

Matt D'Arrigo, Director of Creative Youth Development at the Clare Rose Foundation, was recently installed as the Board Chair for The National Guild for Community Arts Education. Matt has served on this board for the past three years.


Matt is a Learning Group and Coaching Program graduate and also serves as a Fieldstone Coach and a Creative Encounters facilitator for us.
