Thanksgiving Distribution Serves Record Number of Households

Thank you so much to everyone who donated supplies and funding to brighten the Thanksgiving holiday for Holly Springs Food Cupboard clients. The Holly Springs Food Cupboard distributed boxes full of ingredients for Thanksgiving meals to a record 367 households before the holiday - a record number possible only thanks to our generous community.

As part of the Thanksgiving meal package distributions, gift cards for clients to purchase turkeys were provided, thanks to significant contributions from companies working to build the FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies site. Donors included:

Holiday Student Bag Drive

Help ensure students enjoy kid-friendly foods and snacks while school is out for the holidays by participating in the Holiday Student Bag Drive through December! Collect items into a reusable grocery bag to donate to the Cupboard. Drop off donations Mondays, 9-11 a.m. (preferred time) or Thursdays, noon-5 p.m.

Through mid-December, collect an item a day to donate to the Holly Springs Food Cupboard in time for the winter holidays. 

Tree Lighting Ceremony & Food Drive

Bring a non-perishable food donation to the Town of Holly Springs Tree Lighting ceremony outside the Cultural Center Thursday, Dec. 1, 5-8 p.m. to be entered to win a $15 Holly Springs Parks & Recreation gift certificate and swag bag. Many thanks to the Town of Holly Springs!

During the Happy Holly Days Parade through downtown Holly Springs on Saturday, Dec. 10, 10 a.m., drop by Keller Williams Legacy near the Main Street and Center Street intersection to enjoy a hot cocoa fundraiser to benefit the Cupboard!

Thank you so much, Holly Springs Police Public Safety Cadets who conducted a food drive as an Operation Legacy Project, part of the Character Does Matter curriculum offered by the Travis Manion Foundation. The Character Does Matter program helps develop character and leadership skills in young adults.


As they closed this service project, they began another one - accepting donations for their holiday toy drive at the end of the month, which will benefit local families in need during the Christmas holiday.

Two volunteers from Resurrection Life Church completely cleaned the Food Cupboard's outside food distribution room. After taking everything outside and conducting a deep and thorough cleaning, they returned all the items to a spotless room. From top to bottom - including blinds, windows, shelving, ceiling fan, and floors - the transformation was amazing! Thank you so much to the volunteers from Resurrection Life Church!

Bombshell Beer Company, in conjunction with the Sunset Ridge South Neighborhood, held a weekend event that collected hundreds of pounds of needed items for the Cupboard, including diapers and cereal! 

We are so very thankful to Jodi and Todd Stevens - both for their generous donation from their "Give Back Thursday Event" and also for the much-needed food drive that was collected from their "Holiday Open House Event" at Bless Your Heart Boutique! Thank you for making shopping local so much fun!

Garden Update: Hibernating Through the Winter


Regularly scheduled Saturday gardening work days are suspended until February 2023 for a winter hibernation, along with the garden.

Cleaning out your garage and storage shed? The Holly Springs Food Cupboard Garden may be able to use some of your old, used equipment and supplies. If you would like to drop off your “gift“ to us, stop by any day (except Thursday) and put it by the door to the garden shed. We can provide you with a donation receipt if desired.

  • Partial bags of lawn fertilizer
  • Push-type lawn fertilizer spreader
  • Used bricks & bags of play sand
  • Spade or shovel for digging holes and mulching fork for compost
  • Electric dehydrator for drying our herbs
  • Small grinding wheel to sharpen hand tools
  • Small workbench vice
  • Hand tools: crescent wrench, screwdrivers, socket wrench set, pliers, hand saw
  • Lumber: usable 2x6 boards that are about 4-10 ft long
  • Paper scissors
  • Wood screws 1-3 inches long
  • Partial boxes of nails
  • Cement blocks
  • Hand pruners/clippers for plants

November Garden Activity

Thanks to the many volunteers who help maintain our garden and work to grow and harvest healthy produce for our clients.

Brrr! Garden volunteers put in garlic on a cold morning for an expected July harvest. Thank you!

Troop 320 volunteers spent Veterans Day morning working on the compost bins in the Holly Springs Food Cupboard garden. Meanwhile, herbs and flowers, grapes, hydroponic lettuce, and other greens continue growing strong. Thanks for the help, Troop 320!

Students from Apex, Friendship, and Garner High Schools spent a morning in the Holly Springs Food Cupboard gardens weeding, mulching, transplanting, and sowing seeds for our winter harvest. Thank you, volunteers!

The Food Cupboard gardens continued to produce fresh delicious greens and vegetables in November! Thanks to the many volunteers who help make these healthy foods available for the food insecure.

Drive through food distribution is every Thursday, 2-5 p.m. Shopping food distribution by appointment only is every Monday, 1-4 p.m. Deliveries are available to persons with compromised health or without transportation. How to Get Food to the Cupboard


The Cupboard can receive donated food on:

  • Preferred hours: Mondays 9-11 a.m.
  • Also: Thursdays noon-5 p.m.


Place donations on our delivery dock on the side of our facility and ring the doorbell for assistance. Or, give us a call and we can meet you to pick up food from your neighborhood.


If you have food that you want to deliver at other times, you can take it to one of our community drop-off sites listed below. If necessary, we can arrange a time for a pick-up. Please do not leave food outside the Cupboard.
