There was plenty of joy inside the restaurant last night when Impact100 Philadelphia members gathered to celebrate the announcement of a new membership record. In 2019 we will be 397 members strong, working collectively to engage women in philanthropy and spread joy in our community with $381,500 in grants.

Impact100 Philadelphia Honored with CVIM Award on Giving Tuesday
Since 2012 “Giving Tuesday” has become an important part of the American philanthropic calendar. Impact100 Philadelphia was proud to participate in this new tradition on November 27 this year with speakers from 2017 grant recipient Community Volunteers in Medicine (CVIM) and and another popular local charity, Cradles to Crayons. Denise Maher (pictured above, center), Director of Development for CVIM, inaugurated Impact100 Philadelphia into their Pillar Society and presented our Co-Presidents, Madge Rothenberg and Carolyn Ashburn, with a commemorative crystal symbolizing our collective contribution.

Impact100 Philadelphia Named "Every Day Philanthropist"
What does philanthropy mean? The actual word origin is from the Greek term philanthropia: "kindliness, humanity, benevolence, love to mankind" (from gods, men, or things). For centuries, this word implied a lofty sense of both mission and participation. Philanthropy seemed to be the stuff of foundations and trusts. Average citizens with middle-of-the-road finances have always participated in charitable giving but would not describe themselves as “philanthropists.” Impact100 Philadelphia is part of a growing movement to update that definition, and we recognize that philanthropy should be a broad, inclusive philosophy open to everyone. We are proud to be recognized as “every day philanthropists” and a leader in our region in re-imagining charitable commitment by Philanthropus LLC.
