Dear clients and friends,

We hope this email finds you and your family safe. Our thoughts are with all those recently affected by Hurricane Irma or Hurricane Maria.

For many in Florida and the Caribbean, the impact of Hurricane Irma is still being felt. The storm not only affected our personal lives, but introduced complex business and legal challenges which must now be overcome.

The same is also true for those impacted by Hurricane Maria, many of whom are still literally in the process of digging out.

Our team of experienced lawyers and other professionals is here to assist you in the recovery process. Some of the ways we can help are:

Our Insurance Group can assist in analyzing insurance policies, identifying applicable coverages, and prosecuting insurance claims for property damage, delays in completion, business interruption, and other covered losses.

Our Land Development, Zoning, Environmental, and Governmental Affairs Group can help secure necessary permit extensions and modifications, and address permitting delays. To view a recent alert on these issues, click here

Our Construction Group can assist in analyzing and addressing claims relating to water intrusion, mold, and fungus, which commonly arise in the aftermath of major storms. It can also help address claims relating to liability for structural, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and other issues resulting from construction defects.

Our Real Estate Group, in turn, can help evaluate and address the impacts of recent storms on contractual rights and responsibilities, both in the development context and the commercial context. It can also help address landlord-tenant issues and other lease disputes.

Finally, our Labor and Employment Group can assist with setting up policies for donating leave time to affected employees or relief funds, easing employees' access to their 401(k) funds and partnering with clients on pay and personnel action plans in preparation for future weather events.

If we can assist you in navigating these issues or others, please do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to connecting with you soon.
