Third Sunday after the Epiphany

Recovering the word disciple

During a conversation with a group of clergy this week I asked them, "What is a disciple?" You might think that a definition for such a churchy word would roll right off of the tongues of a bunch of priests, but you'd be wrong. Which is exactly why I asked the question!

The Church uses a lot of insider language that sometimes trips us up upon deeper reflection. I also like asking people questions that seem simple but are not.

How about your thoughts? What is a disciple? I bet there are few answers I can predict which may come to mind for you.

I propose that we need to recover this word from some ideas we might be holding on to.

Check out our latest blog post to discover how recovering this one word for ourselves can lead us into real, life-changing spiritual growth.

Hoping that you have a safe and relaxing weekend. Can't wait to see you on Sunday at 7:45 AM or 10:15 AM. Keep the faith, St. Paul's!

P.S. - Make sure you take a look at our calendar of events linked below. It's there, and in the "Get Involved" section of our website that you can find ways to live into your discipleship!
