Recovery Works!
The mission of Chester County Department of Drug and Alcohol Services is to ensure that quality alcohol and other drug intervention and treatment, as well as alcohol, tobacco and other drug prevention programs are provided for citizens in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
Chester County Department of Drug and Alcohol Services Recognizes:
Alcohol Awareness Month
As we are in the midst of an opioid epidemic, we often forget that Alcohol Use Disorder is just as prevalent in our society. According to Facing Addiction with National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (NCADD), one in every 12 adults, or 17.6 million people, suffer from alcohol use disorder or alcohol dependence .

During the month of April, please join us in spreading awareness on alcohol use and alcohol use disorder. Founded and sponsored by the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (now Facing Addiction with NCADD), Alcohol Awareness Month was established in 1987 to help reduce the stigma so often associated with alcohol addiction by encouraging communities to reach out to each April with information about alcohol, alcohol addiction, and recovery.

Teaming up for Mobile Medication Collection
The Chester County Department of Drug and Alcohol Services has teamed up with the Chester County Sheriff's Office to do mobile medication collection events at Chester County Senior Centers. The event entails a collection box where residents can dispose of unneeded or expired prescriptions, and a brief presentation on medication safety. So far, the team has been to Phoenixville Senior Center and Surrey Services. Upcoming locations include the West Chester Senior Center and Surrey Services .
