Dear Herons Glen Community,
This Thursday, the moving company will be at Copperleaf Country Club to transport the restaurant furniture back to the club on Friday. It will be staged in the Ballroom until we decide to move it into the restaurant. As part of our arrangement with Copperleaf, the outdoor pool/patio furniture along with an assortment of lobby furniture and matching accessories was included, provided that we took everything.
The pool and patio furniture were delivered last week and is now located on the pool deck and other areas around the club. The thought was, if it didn’t fit or wasn’t acceptable, we wouldn’t keep it. A good example of this is the blue seating couch with cushions. We know that the cushions are damaged but we wanted to get a sense of what it looked like and how functional it would be. We may choose to get new cushions or repair the existing ones, but the prevailing attitude is: let’s see what we have and make the necessary changes.
Below are some notes concerning the pool deck:
- The remainder of the decorative pots have been placed on the deck. The landscaper is scheduled to install new plantings within the next few weeks.
- The electronic access system will be installed within a couple of weeks. The remote access system (compatible with the fitness center) will allow residents to use the same card or fob to access both the pool and fitness center. The electronic system will ensure the pool gates are locked when the pool is closed and prevent non-residents or unauthorized guests from entering. Please make sure you have an access card or fob to enter the pool area before we go live with the system. I will explain this process in an email next week.
- Two new ADA handicap lifts are replacing the old lifts at both the pool and spa. As a Recreation District, Herons Glen must abide by ADA standards for public pools. The ADA and its regulations require equal and independent access for people with disabilities in all facilities, including a pool. The ADA standards specify that “a stationary lift must be located at the proper water depth with the necessary space around it to maneuver a wheelchair.”
- New sling chairs are scheduled to arrive at the end of June. They will replace the current brown strap chairs which will be made available to the residents prior to considering other disposal options. Additional umbrellas have also been ordered.
- The temporary wooded rails will remain along the ramp and steps coming off the restaurant until the new metal rails arrive.
- Light pole installation is still being worked out with Stultz and the manufacturer. Once we receive more information, it will be forwarded to you.
- We ask that you please close the table umbrellas prior to leaving the pool to prevent wind damage which may occur during afternoon storms.
- Until further notice, the back cart path will remain closed for vendor parking, furniture staging, deliveries, etc. Future work may necessitate closing the pool from time to time.
Again, please be aware that the pool deck is not a "finished" product as we continue to make additions and improvements.
If you have any further questions or need more specific information, please let me know and I'll do my best to assist you. Alternatively, you may find contact details for other HGRD Administration Office staff members by clicking here.
Kind regards,
