Let’s imagine that one of your most reliable families decides not to foster anymore. Then another family moves out of town. Or perhaps a family recently had an adoption finalized and now isn’t a great time to take a placement. Unfortunately, even if you have a reliable number of foster parents, they may not always be there. That’s why it’s important to continuously work on the recruitment of new families, along with your retention efforts. The good news is, we’re here to help.
 
The Coalition for Children, Youth & Families, in partnership with DCF, is offering a new Recruitment Training Series for agencies that will begin this fall. Foster Care Coordinators, Foster Parent Champions, and recruitment team members are invited to this free training series. We will launch the series with a live webinar on August 24th which will include information specifically relevant to supervisors considering sending their FCCs and other agency personnel to the training series.
 
Here are a few details:
 
  • Registration will begin following the program launch webinar on August 24th.
  • A series of 30-minute recorded webinars on recruitment concepts will be provided to participants in September and October.
  • Recruitment-related tasks will be assigned (optional “homework”) and participants will have an opportunity to meet via Zoom with Coalition staff to discuss ongoing plans and activities.
  • In late fall, Recruitment Teams and Foster Parent Champions will each receive a half-day live interactive webinar training by Coalition staff.
  • All participants will have the opportunity to brainstorm and troubleshoot at the conclusion of the series.
