On behalf of the Rector Search Committee, we are excited about the selection process that has just begun and for the ultimate calling of our new rector. Our parish is thriving and we believe this search is the beginning of another wonderful chapter in our shared lives at St. George’s. We are committed to finding a rector who will lead and encourage us to receive, live, and share the abundant life of Jesus Christ.
We are also committed to being as transparent as possible, and so today we are providing the broad strokes of what lies ahead. These are early days in this search. Many more details will be provided as we move beyond our planning stage and into the work that will involve you all.
There will be a parish-wide information session at 10:05am on Sunday, June 27 in Hampton Hall where we will answer every question we can. Also, as the committee’s work progresses, we intend to provide updates on our work through the church’s weekly email.
Parish engagement will begin with a survey, which we are already designing and we will ask every member to complete. We will also ask you to participate in focus groups, to give us additional insight into the needs and desires of our parish.
The findings from the survey and focus groups will be layered into a parish profile and brochure that will be published for potential candidates to review. We want them to understand who we are, what we offer, and what we are looking for. Your input will be crucial to this effort.
After our parish profile and brochure are published, we will accept nominations (including from parish members) and then will enter into a period of discernment and ultimately, the calling of our new rector.
Like you, we are eager to know who our new rector will be. We are working prayerfully, purposefully, and with expedience. We ask for your prayers and your patience in the weeks and months ahead.
Faithfully,
Jason Callen & Amy Norton
