Catch the Spirit at St Francis

There is no better day than Pentecost to proclaim that the Holy Spirit is guiding us into an exciting new future. Our Rector position is now advertised, and potential candidates can submit applications. We thank the Vestry and Profile Committee for all their challenging work in getting to this point.

Now we ask that you help our Search Committee in their ministry. First, pray for them! Ask that the Holy Spirit will give them wisdom in selecting a slate of qualified candidates to the Vestry. Second, we ask that you refrain from asking them questions about their work, including candidates and progress. Finally, we invite you to join us for a discussion on the future of St Francis following our Pentecost worship this Sunday.

What are your hopes and goals for the future of St Francis? Members of our Vestry and Search Committee will be at the coffee hour to listen to you. We also invite you to write down your thoughts —we will have note cards and writing implements—or bring notes with you. Your inputs will help us shape the conversations that our Search Committee will have with potential candidates. Here are some thought starters:

  • What will St Francis look like 3-5 years from now?
  • What are our goals? Some areas you might consider include: worship, spiritual formation, family ministries, pastoral care, outreach, fellowship, and stewardship.

Come and join in our glorious celebration of Pentecost! The Spirit is moving, and we want to hear about your dreams and visions for St Francis. We look forward to welcoming a new companion who will guide and lead St Francis in a journey of greatness for God’s glory.

Tomorrow is Gun Violence Awareness Day
The first Friday in June is Gun Violence Awareness Day.
Here is a prayer from Bishops United Against Gun Violence:

O God who Remembers, we hold before you all who have died from the plague of gun violence in our land. We remember those who have taken their lives with a gun, those who have died in school shootings and mass shootings, those who have died by a gun in the course of an argument or from abuse or by accident or during the commission of a crime. We lift our voices in sorrow and frustration knowing that every life is infinitely valuable to you. Receive all who have died into the arms of your mercy, bless those who mourn with the hope of eternal life, and strengthen our hearts and our arms to bring an end to this scourge. This we pray in the name of the one who overcame the power of death, your son, Jesus Christ. Amen."
What's Happening!
  • June is Pride Month - We pray for God’s blessings on our LGBTQ friends, neighbors and communities.
  • Sunday June 12—Trinity Sunday and Baccalaureate. Honor our Seniors and pray them on to the next chapters of their life journeys.

We will also be honoring Juneteenth, or “Freedom Day”, which is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States.
