City offers free parliamentary workshops

Registered parliamentarian Saundra Engle will lead two upcoming workshops at the Sierra Vista Public Library for beginner and advanced parliamentary procedures.

These free workshops are perfect for people who are new to a board or board leadership and members of groups who want to make their meetings more effective.

The Making Meetings Move: Introductory Course will take place on Saturday, Jan. 28, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the library meeting room. This workshop provides the basics of running a meeting and includes valuable time-saving tips. Learn what the rules are, how to set an agenda, how to make or handle a motion, and how to manage debate.

Then the Making Meetings Move: Advanced Course will take place on Saturday, Feb. 4, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the library meeting room. This workshop enables participants to develop effective participatory decision-making skills, learn to handle subsidiary, privileged and incidental motions, learn the rules of elections and voting, and develop skills to be able to serve as an elected officer or chair.

Robert’s Rules of Order in Brief will be available for a $10 cash only purchase at the program. For more information or to register, contact the Henry F. Hauser Museum at 520-439-2306 or via email at [email protected].
