Message from the Village President, Julie Siegel
|
Parents: Please be careful letting your children play in the parkways and medians. Sledding from the parkway and boulevard medians into the streets isn't safe. It can be difficult for cars to see children when the snow is piled up.

An update from Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission (MADACC):
|
|
Heartworm in Milwaukee and surrounding communities:
Heartworm disease, a fatal internal parasite if left untreated, is becoming more common in southern Wisconsin due to the large number of animals being transported to rescue groups from states in the south and west where heartworm is endemic.
It is more important than ever for you to have your dog tested for heartworm and be kept on monthly preventative. Veterinarians usually recommend testing in April. Heartworm treatment for infected dogs can be costly and take a year or longer. The more dogs in our community that are carrying heartworm increases the risk for all our dogs. Contact your veterinarian for more information or
Karen Sparapani, Executive Director of MADACC, for more information.

News from the Health Department:
Did you know? Although it’s still early in the year, some of us have already dropped our New Year’s Resolutions to quit smoking or drinking, to increase exercise, or lose that extra weight. Since February is National Cancer Prevention Month, it is a great time to renew those healthy goals as all of them also align with cancer prevention.
Most people know that it is possible to reduce cancer risks by avoiding tobacco and tobacco products. In addition, Making healthy lifestyle choices, getting regular cancer screenings, and vaccinations can be part of your plan for better health. Regular screening tests for breast, cervical, and colorectal (colon) cancers can find cancer early, when treatment works best. Grab an apple, take a walk, and schedule a cancer screening test if you are due.
February is the perfect time to resurrect those healthy New Year’s resolutions!
