Volunteer of the Month

Each month this school year we are celebrating a student who is showing Christ's love in action through service to the community.

Congratulations to Cecilia Keller ‘26 (Immaculate Conception), Bishop Watterson Volunteer of the Summer! Cecilia spent her summer supporting numerous agencies including Ganzhorn Suites, Whetstone Library, Ohio Senior Olympics, Immaculate Conception Parish, and Bishop Watterson. When asked about memorable moments from her volunteer work Cecilia said a favorite was definitely leading Cheer Yoga with the Ganzhorn Suites Residents. Not all residents were as enthusiastic as Cecilia for a Sunday morning workout, but everyone always left feeling refreshed and with big smiles. Another highlight included keeping time and results for the Ohio Senior Olympics track event. The oldest runners were over 90 years old and Cecilia, a varsity cross country and track athlete, was impressed they could keep a competitive pace not too far from her own! 

Congratulations to Mari Wilson ’27 (St. Michael), Bishop Watterson Volunteer of the Month for September! Mari regularly serves a wide-ranging group of individuals, from young spirited soccer players to hopeful young adults in Special Olympics programs. Mari completed her Sophomore Service Training project with Buddy Up Tennis and has remained an active volunteer ever since. Recently she volunteered at a camp that focused on tennis skill sets for young adults ages 17-20. Mari said her favorite part of the camp was watching how much growth the athletes displayed in just one short week of camp. Additionally, Mari actively volunteers at both St. Peter Parish and St. Michael Parish, helping with Sacrament Prep for elementary aged students.

Fall Kairos Retreat for Seniors

Members of the Class of 2026 attended a Fall Kairos Retreat this month, the 35th held by Bishop Watterson. Kairos retreats, based on a national model, provide students with an opportunity to grow deeper in faith while creating supportive relationships with each other.

Monthly Lunch & Learn Events Provide Career Insight

In September our Lunch & Learn theme was "All Things Military" and in October the theme was "All Things Business." Students sat down for lunch with professionals to hear about their work and to ask questions. More than 70 students joined 13 professionals for the October event.
