Black History Month Events Scheduled in February

LaGuardia is celebrating Black History Month during February with a variety of activities and events hosted across campus. Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing their central role in U.S. history. Also known as African American History Month, the celebration was the brainchild of noted historian Carter G. Woodson and other prominent African Americans. Since 1976, every U.S. president has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month. Other countries around the world, including Canada and the United Kingdom, also devote a month to celebrating Black history. Click here to see the full schedule of events.

Apply for the Vassar College Explore Transfer Summer Program by February 19

Each year, Vassar College hosts a select group of community college students to stay on campus and learn what it’s like to take classes as a student at a small liberal arts college campus. The program, which takes place from June 24 to July 26, is currently accepting applications through February 19 (letters of recommendation and transcripts may be submitted by March 1). The cost of tuition, room, meals, and books are all covered by the program. For more information click here or contact Dr. Julianne Salazar.
