A Word from the Rector

By now, you have likely heard that the Tetlers are moving to Ohio. One of the beautiful and difficult realities of Christian community is that love always leaves us vulnerable to both joy and grief. We rejoice with the Tetler family as they prepare for this exciting new chapter, even as we grieve what their departure will mean for us. Their faith, friendship, generosity, and love have enriched this parish in countless ways, and we will miss them dearly!

On a personal note, I am deeply grateful for James's partnership in ministry. I have come to rely on his wisdom, steady presence, and good humor more than I can say. Every meeting has been better because he was in it, and every challenge has felt lighter because we faced it together. None of that would have been possible, though, without Emily's unwavering support, encouragement, and patience (all while excelling in her professional life as well)! They are a truly remarkable team and will, no doubt, continue to be a blessing in their new community.

In the weeks ahead, we will have the opportunity to celebrate the Tetlers properly, give thanks for their ministry among us, and send them forth with every blessing and much love. I hope you will join us as we express our gratitude for all they have meant—and continue to mean—to St. Mark's.



While transitions always bring change, they also remind us of an important truth: the Church has never rested on any one person. Christ remains the head of this Church, and God continues to raise up faithful leaders for every season. We are blessed with a gifted Vestry, dedicated staff, remarkable lay leaders, and a congregation deeply committed to God's mission. Jane Frederick has graciously agreed to serve as our Senior Warden through the remainder of the year, and I am deeply grateful for her willingness to step into this role. Our discernment continues, our ministry continues, and God's faithful work among us continues. I have every confidence that St. Mark's will continue to flourish in this next chapter!

My prayer is that the Tetlers leave Beaufort knowing just how deeply they are loved and how grateful we are for the gift of sharing this chapter of life with them. Please keep them in your prayers as they prepare for this new adventure. May God bless the road before them, and may they know they always have a home at St. Mark's.

A Prayer for The Tetlers

Faithful God, thank you for the gift of the Tetler family. Bless them as they journey toward a new home. Grant them peace in every goodbye, joy in every new beginning, and confidence that you go before them. Surround them with your peace, enfold them in your love, and bring them safely to the place you are calling them; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

On a beautiful Lowcountry Summer morning, Jenny blessed the Dragonboats and all who raced them, cheered them, and organized this wonderful annual event which provides grants to cancer patients.

Food Collection this Sunday

This Sunday, July 5th, we'll be collecting food and other supplies for HELP of Beaufort. Canned fruit, vegetables, and meat, peanut butter and jelly, condiments (salt/pepper, mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard), paper products, and bottled water are always appreciated. Thank you for giving!

Donna Altman, our wonderful Interim Bookkeeper, is on a well-deserved vacation, returning after July 4. During her absence, should you have any questions that would normally be directed her way, please contact Cheri Thayer at cherihthayer@gmail.com. And when Donna returns, please thank her mightily for all her years of service.

It truly takes all of us to care for us all!!  



Congregational Care ALWAYS welcomes your support with our ministries, but we find ourselves in need of volunteers for two ministries in particular: our card and our meal ministries. No experience necessary!

BACK TO SCHOOL!

To bless and honor the students, teachers, administrators, and all others who support our students as they return to the classroom, we invite all students and teachers to bring their backpacks and briefcases to be blessed on Sunday, July 26 @ the 10am service. Festivities and food will follow the service! (Note that we've changed the date in order to ensure the Tetlers are among us!)

We will also conduct a school supplies drive for Port Royal Elementary again this year. Click here for the list of supplies needed by grade level. And if you prefer to donate toward the purchase of sweatshirts for the students (it gets VERY cold in the school), please write a check payable to St. Mark's and note "Sweatshirts" on the memo line. Depending on size, each shirt runs $7-$9 (Prime Day Deals, gotta' love 'em!). Carter will pre-purchase the shirts. Please bring your donations of money or supplies to the Center during office hours (T/W/Th, 9-2) or give them to one of the ushers on Sunday mornings.

WE NEED YOU! No, we're not Uncle Sam, but St. Mark's is looking for some volunteers to train as acolytes, sacristans (altar guild), eucharistic ministers (chalice bearers), and ushers. Due to some recent departures of long-time, faithful volunteers, our supply is low. If you are interested in training or want to learn more, please contact Carter Hoyt at carterhoyt@comcast.net.
