Sunday ~ the Day of Pentecost
And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability. Acts 2;1-x
Hail thee, festival day!
What better way to celebrate the Feast of Pentecost than with a picnic! Join us on the lawn of the Center after the 11 AM service this Sunday, June 9, with your favorite picnic-type dish to share, as well as a lawn chair. Paper products and beverages will be provided. In olden days, people wore white (hence the name "Whitsunday"), but in modern times it's become traditional to wear red on Pentecost Sunday to symbolize the tongues of fire that appeared over the disciples' heads.
