The Baptism of Christ

"You are my Son, the Beloved; with you I am well pleased."-- Luke 3:22

This Sunday, Jan. 13, we will renew our own baptismal vows as we mark the Baptism of our Lord Jesus Christ on the First Sunday after the Epiphany.

Last call--deadline extended to 2 PM TODAY
St. Mark's Annual Oyster Roast is Sat., Jan. 12, at 5 PM in Live Oak Park, Port Royal. Join us for local oysters, hot dogs and chili and enjoy music by the Sometimes Later Band. Cost is $16 for oysters per person or $10 for hot dogs only. Make checks payable to St. Mark's and drop them by the Center before 2 PM TODAY (Wed.). For questions, contact Beth Campbell @ flbeth1@gmail.com
Wednesdays @ St. Mark's
There will be NO service of Holy Communion/Healing or Adult Ed programs on Wed., Jan. 16. Rev. Roy will be out of town. After today's session on the Lord's Prayer, the next regular Wednesday program will resume on Jan. 23 with "God's Lost and Found Department." In all of Luke's Gospel, no single chapter conveys the power of God's love more than Luke Chapter 15. By the use of three simple stories, Jesus shows to both the religious authorities and to the gathered crowds the power of God's love. Join us for this one session as we look at this life-changing chapter of scripture.
Sock drive nets 192 pair in one week
Response to the sock drive has been tremendous! We're collecting new, warm socks during the month of January for needy children and adults. Delivery to St. Francis Center on St. Helena Island and Shanklin Elementary has already begun!. Bring your sock donations (new only) to the Center during office hours or to church on any Sunday morning in January. A collection basket will be on the front porch. Call Carter Hoyt with questions at 404 936-5695.
Annual Parish Meeting Sun., Jan. 20
The Annual Parish Meeting will be held on Sun., Jan. 20, between the two services, or just after 10 AM in the church. Coffee and cookies will be available. Please plan to attend and catch up on all the wonderful things that have happened at St. Mark's in 2018 and the exciting events planned for the coming year. Watch for a special announcement on Monday to introduce the two new Vestry nominees to replace Linda Finnin and Mike Seymour whose terms are expiring.
People of Faith. Episcopalians!
What does it mean to follow in the footsteps of Episcopalians who have gone before us? Why do we say our faith is based on the creeds and not a doctrine? Just who was Thomas Cranmer anyway? Come explore the rich heritage of the Episcopal Church and find out why so many call it (both the Church and more locally St. Mark's) home. A four-week series begins Feb. 6 when we will explore what it means to be an Episcopalian in today's world. This "Inquirers' Class" is perfect for anyone who wishes to get a better understanding of the Episcopal Church and is perfect for those wishing to gain a deeper understanding of our faith, as well as those seeking confirmation or reception into the Episcopal Church.
