The Flowering of the Cross
The tradition of covering a barren cross with fresh flowers transforms the cross from a symbol of Christ’s crucifixion into a symbol of his resurrection. On Easter Sunday you’re invited to bring flowers to attach to the cross before each of the two services. (Since “spring already sprung" in the Lowcountry, you may want to pick up a few cut flowers from the store Saturday night.) Placing the flowered cross on the Center lawn after the service reminds us, as well as those who pass by, of the continuing presence of Christ in the world. Our thanks to Sallie and Leigh Stone for heading up this effort at St. Mark’s as they do every Easter.
New adult ed series to begin May 1
The book of Acts is one of the most action-oriented books in all of the Bible. Purportedly written by the author(s) of Luke, it is the earliest account of the creation of the Church. In reading this ancient script, we discover interesting parallels between what occurred then and what many of us have experienced on our spiritual journey today. (Okay. Okay. Maybe we haven’t had a baptism of 3,000 at one time.) Come explore the birth of the Church and in so doing discover insights into our St. Mark’s community. This four-part adult ed series begins Wed., May 1, with sessions at 10 AM and 6:30 PM.

God-on-Tap Apr. 25
The next meeting of God-on-Tap will take place at Beaufort Bread Co. on Lady's Island from 6-8 PM on Thurs., Apr. 25. Join the group for drinks, food and conversation in a relaxed atmosphere. We'll once again have the place all to ourselves.
It's Kairos cookie time again
Ken Kraft is calling for cookies for Kairos Prison Ministry. Recipes are on the table in the Center and plastic shoeboxes are available from any dollar store. Please drop your cookies off at the Center on Wed., Apr. 24, between noon and 4 PM. (The office will be closed but Ken will be there to receive cookies.) For more information or if you'd like to attend the closing ceremony at the prison in Ridgeland on Apr. 28, contact Ken at  kraftken4340@yahoo.com .
New schedule in the works
If you regularly serve as an acolyte, gospel bearer, lay reader, Lay Eucharistic Minister, usher or sacristan, watch for a new a sign-up request in your email. Please reply promptly. And if you've never served before, now's your chance! Simply email Julie in the office to receive a copy of the blank schedule. Don't worry--we'll train you.
Do you ever wonder where all those Palm Sunday crosses come from? We had such a big group, they couldn't all fit into the picture. Thanks to all who helped, especially our leader Kit Bruce (green top), and to those who brought crosses they made at home.
