New series coming soon
The first adult ed series on C.S. Lewis's The Screwtape Letters begins on Sept. 18 at 10 AM and is repeated at 6:30 PM preceded by a light supper. One of Lewis's most delightful and thought-provoking "novels," The Screwtape Letters tells of the subtle but effective ways evil comes into our world through the "Devil's Apprentice." Two copies are on hand in the Parish Library for sign-out, and others are obtainable from the public library, Amazon, or local bookstores.

A service of Holy Communion and Healing also takes place every Wednesday at 5:30 in the church.
Brunch following one service on Sept. 8
A brunch after a combined 10 AM service will mark the start of our fall calendar of activities and herald the congregational kickoff of the Capital Campaign. Catered by our own Ramona Fantini of Common Ground, the brunch will take place on the lawn or--in case of rain--the Shed. Gayle Swann will head up a "brunch team" for set-up.. Please Contact Gayle at galeswann@yahoo.com or 252-247-7446. to offer your help.
Walk for Water...so she won't have to!
Join the St. Mark's team on Sat., Sept. 21, 9 AM, at Live Oaks Park in Port Royal to support Water Mission's efforts to ensure safe water around the world. A limited number of registrations are available through Westley Byrne ( wapwb1@gmail.com ). Otherwise, for complete instructions on how to access the website to register, see the flyer HERE .
New liturgical ministry rotation starting
We're seeking volunteers for a new rotation running from Sept. 8 through All Saints on Nov. 3. We especially need acolytes (6th grade-adult), gospel bearers and ushers for both services. I f you've never participated before, now is a great time to volunteer since training for all--old and new--will be scheduled in September. Many have already signed up (thank you!), but as of now, there's still room for YOU to join this dedicated group. Contact Julie in the office.

Diocesan Convention
You're invited to the 229th Diocesan Convention of the Episcopal Church in SC on Nov. 15-16 at the North Charleston Marriott. St. Mark's non-clergy delegates are Jim Phelps, George Utter, Susan Grimes and Katey Seibels, but everyone is welcome to attend. Everything you need to know about the convention can be found on the Diocesan webpage HERE .
Save trees, save $$$$
As long as the Sunday bulletins are identical--which is most of the time--there's no reason why they can't be reused at 11 AM. If you want to take it home, that's fine, but otherwise, please refold the bulletin at the end of the 9 AM service and place it on the table in the narthex for the 11 AM congregation to use.
