We open August with a great deal of activity:

First, we said farewell to our dear friend and longtime RPVB member Merrilu Ablowich. Her visitation was held on Tuesday and a private graveside service will be held later. Please continue to hold her husband Al in prayer and give him support.

The National Night Out event at Green Run was a tremendous success. We appreciate the Governor’s visit and all the candidates who participated. The RPVB had a membership table set up and we were a gold level sponsor. Thanks to the RPVB membership committee for setting up and staffing our table. It was great to support this national annual event.

There were also several candidate campaign events and I continue to encourage all to support our candidates by volunteering and making financial contributions. Running for office is demanding and expensive and we appreciate each person who makes the courageous decision to run. Let’s support them!

The City of Virginia Beach recently issued an administrative directive governing how and where campaigning, and other activities, can be held on public property “Petitioning, Picketing and Other Expressive Activities in City Buildings and Work Areas". The directive is attached, and each candidate should become familiar with it, as well as others who gather on public property to support various concerns.
Look to see the precinct observer and poll worker training session schedule posting. It begins this month, and we need volunteers to stand up and support the RPVB at each precinct in the city. We have 108 precincts and need representatives at each site on election day, and during early voting which begins in September. Come out and support the party and our candidates. Our elections require a unified team to be successful.

Don’t forget our August City Committee meeting on Monday 8 August, beginning at 7:00pm at the Law Enforcement Training academy (LETA). Our precinct organization will give an outline of our approach to this year’s elections and all Republican candidates, who are members of the RPVB, will be allowed an opportunity to address the City Committee with a campaign update.

Finally, come out and support our RPVB August First Friday event. It will be held at Granby Station Sports Bar at 2720 N. Mall Drive, near Lynnhaven Mall. Come in out of the heat and have a drink and a bite with your friends.

Please don’t forget that our local City Council and School Board candidates need our volunteer time and financial support to ensure success!
Our prayers continue to go out to the people of Ukraine.

Election Integrity
Three ways you can get involved to support Election Integrity Efforts for the upcoming November election.

Officer of Election - Official paid election workers are needed during Early Voting and on election day. Early voting hours vary and election day hours are 5am -8pm. This role is paid by the city and requires training at the Registrar’s Office.

Poll Watchers or Observers – Volunteers can work as many hours as they wish and can be flexible. Coordinated with the Republican Party to ensure consistent coverage. Volunteers are authorized Representatives of the Republican Party to observe the poll and its operation. Training highly encouraged and will be provided.

Outside Poll Workers or Outside Mingling with Voters – Support our candidates at the polls and meet your neighbors. Volunteer for your polling precinct or another in need.  Set your own schedule and coordinate with our volunteer coordinator to ensure consistent coverage. No training required. Great job for Teens or those interested in Elections.
