First, Congratulations to all 2022 graduates! We wish you well in your future endeavors. We also want to wish all father’s out there a Happy Fathers Day. Finally, we want to recognize Juneteenth which falls on 19 June (celebrated on 20 June). Take some time to study this new Holiday which has been celebrated by Black Americans for many years. It recognizes the end of a terrible and unimaginable wrong that was perpetrated on an entire group of people. Even cursory study will reveal the tremendous legacy Black Americans have given to our great nation.

Back to party business. We held our monthly City Committee meeting on Monday 13 June and our guest speaker was Delegate Barry Knight, the House Appropriations Committee Chairman. Delegate Knight gave us a detailed look the hard-fought budget the Governor is now reviewing. Results next week!

Tuesday June 21st is Primary Election Day in Virginia (at your normal polling location). Saturday is the last day of early voting.

Republicans are nominating their candidate to defeat Elaine Luria in November and become the next Congressperson from the 2nd District.

Democrats are running negative ads against Republican candidates - in this race, and others across the country. Don’t be fooled by these negative ads – check out the candidates for yourself.

You must vote in your correct precinct, or you will be required to prepare a provisional ballot. Please note the following:

The electoral board shall meet on the day following the election and determine whether each person having submitted a provisional vote pursuant to § 24.2-653 was entitled to do so as a qualified voter in the precinct in which he offered the provisional vote. In the case of persons voting provisionally pursuant to § 24.2-653.3, the electoral board shall determine of which district the person is a qualified voter. At the meeting, the voter may request an extension of the determination of the provisional vote in order to provide information to prove that the voter is entitled to vote in the precinct pursuant to § 24.2-401. The electoral board shall have the authority to grant such extensions that it deems reasonable to determine the status of a provisional vote. vote may run the risk of not being counted. The best way to avoid this is to verify your precinct and/or vote early-you have two remaining days! We have provided information below to assist you in verification of precinct.

Please see the most recent precinct changes below.

Finally, we will not hold a city committee meeting in July but will hold our annual RPVB picnic at Red Wing Park on 10 July from 3:00-7:00pm. There is no charge, will be plenty of food and drink, and you will be able to speak with your school board and city council candidates, as well as our congressional nominee as we will know who it is at that time. Last year the picnic was great and everyone who attended had a wonderful time. The RPVB is also hosting a First Friday social at Kelly’s Tavern (Hilltop) on Friday 1 July. Come out and socialize with your conservative friends. This is also a great time to bring a friend who may not be affiliated with the party. Thanks to our Events Committee for putting these social events together.

Our prayers continue to go out to the people of Ukraine.
