The big news this week is the leak from the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) regarding Roe v. Wade being overturned. This is unprecedented and appears to be a purely political action designed to provide Democrats with a volatile issue in advance of the midterm elections. They have no other rallying point for their base and Republicans have no reason to leak this information. Democrats are now screaming for court packing, the nuclear option in congress and a federal law guaranteeing abortion across the country. These three issues are not new, for progressive Democrats, but they are now reinvigorated. The supporting progressive social media network has exploded, and this may well be the only news item you will hear of the next few months. The last thing the DNC wants is for this to go away quickly. It must be sustained until November, so expect a combative, angry Democrat base to demonstrate on the streets, on televised news media and of course, on social media. My advice to Republicans is to not take the bait. There is no reason for Republicans to join the mayhem and become embroiled in the extreme negativity that will be cultivated on social media. This activity will have no impact on the SCOTUS final decision, but it could turn into a fierce battlefield that only benefits progressive Democrats cold political strategy.

As a conservative Republican, and a Christian, my hope is that Roe v. Wade will be overturned, and the sanctity of life will be supported. However, this decision is not in our hands and, as stated above, we must remain positive, not respond to their irrational threats, and allow SCOTUS to make a final ruling. We have reached a tipping in American politics and progressive Democrats have overreached and offended the basic sensibilities of Americans in general. They will consume themselves and we must not stand in the way.

Please take heed to the note below regarding our upcoming City Committee meeting on Monday 9 May. If you have not paid for your annual membership renewal, please get to the meeting early so you can be included in the one step nomination and approval process. I recommend you go online and fill out your application and make payment via credit card. This is the easiest path to membership renewal. See you on Monday!

We hold our next RPVB Monthly meeting on 9 May 2022 at the Law Enforcement Training Academy (LETA) at 7:00 pm. This will be our first meeting following the election and this is your opportunity to join the RPVB in one step. If you go online to our website and register to become a member of the Republican Party of Virginia Beach, and of course make your $50.00 registration payment, you will become a member that evening. Normally this is a two-step process requiring nomination for membership at one meeting and voting for acceptance at the next meeting. Take advantage of this streamlined opportunity to become a voting member of the RPVB. There is another option of becoming an associate member for an annual fee of $25.00. As an associate you are not required to attend monthly meetings, but nor are you allowed to vote on matters brought before the unit. However, you are still a card-carrying valued member of the party.

I am providing the most recently updated copy of the Virginia Beach Precinct List as a convenience once again. It lists all precincts within the new revised districts.

Our prayers continue to go out to the people of Ukraine.
