There is a great deal taking place in the political news at the national level and in Virginia. As our Governor Elect prepares to assume his new role, he is working hard to structure a staff and policies that will enable him to step out smartly on day one. I encourage all Beach republicans to support him as he puts his administration together. I also encourage Beach republicans to enjoy a little “down time” following the demanding election cycle we have just completed. We all need to be refreshed and believe me when I say the issues will be waiting when you return.
As many of you may have heard, someone threw bricks, or other objects, at the party headquarters window on Tuesday evening. No one saw who did this, but we have since repaired the damage. There will always be people who resort to violence when they are disappointed in the results of elections, so this does not come as a surprise, although unexpected. The police were notified, and we don’t expect additional attacks as no threats have been made to the party. However, my primary concern remains the safety of our office volunteers and that is why we ask that no one work in the office after our daily office hours, or on weekends unless there are two or more present. This will help to ensure the safety of all of us. Again, there have been no threats made, but after this unprovoked damage, we must be vigilant and careful.
Be safe and I look forward to seeing you at breakfast on Saturday morning at Golden Corral on Independence Blvd.
