From all of us to you, we want to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving. We are thankful each and every day for our volunteers and members. The support you give to the chamber and the community does not go unnoticed. Thank you for all that you do.
-The Red Wing Area Chamber of Commerce Team and Board of Directors
We had each team member say what they were most thankful for in their personal lives below. This time of year is a great opportunity to reflect on all the blessings that surround us.
----
I am thankful for all that God continues to bless us with. I am grateful for all of the experiences we get to enjoy, the adventures we are able to take, and the good health we are continually blessed with. The people we get to cherish life with, grow together with, and receive encouragement from are truly remarkable. My husband, sons, family, and dear friends are the greatest blessings of all. -Michelle Larson
----
I am thankful for an abundance of blessings in my life. Good health is indeed a treasured blessing. My family and friends are among my greatest blessings. Thank you to everyone who is part of my life. -Marion Fitschen
----
I am thankful for the ability to kayak, hike, snowshoe, and explore this awesome River City that we live in. Along with fuzzy socks, cozy blankets, and good books. Rounding it out with friends, family, and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups! -Laura Aadalen
----
I’m thankful I get to enjoy TWO delicious meals this Thanksgiving with family. I’m excited to be wearing expandable stretchy pants, getting so much attention from family pets and all the laugher that will be had. Let’s make this Thanksgiving perfect with a Vikings win – SKOL Vikes! -Becca Spain

We were the proud to be the sponsor of this year’s Holiday Stroll Medallion Hunt!
|
|
Augie and Anthony were the successful winners of this year's Holiday Stroll Medallion Hunt - a job well done!
A big thank you to everyone who participated in the hunt for the Medallion. We were thrilled to be the sponsor for this event and hope everyone had as much fun as we did! The clues started last Wednesday, and the Medallion was found Tuesday evening of this week. The Medallion was placed in front of The Market Home + Design at the base of the light pole just outside their building along the city property line.

|
|
Here are the full list of clues and how we came up with them.
1.A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away… a medallion was hid to celebrate this holiday! Look up and down and all around for a medallion could be found.
~We couldn’t make it too easy on the first day of the hunt.
2.Do. Or do not. There is no try. There’s no need to look to the sky.
~Medallion was placed at the base of the light pole - look down, not up to the sky.
3.May the force be with you as you create your happy place.
~The Market Home + Design offers an amazing selection of home décor and furniture as you create your happy place.
4.In a world full of snow and ice, we glide on Hoth but steer clear of the Wampas.
~The metal banners along Hwy. 61 in Red Wing are all unique to our area, the one featured in front of The Market Home + Design is a pair of ice skates.
5.Don’t find your lack of faith disturbing as you read this riddle but just know to go towards the middle.
~The Medallion was placed in the middle between The West End District and Downtown District. This was central to the boundaries of where the Medallion could be hidden.
6.Stay on target your quest is near for one day this was a place to purchase a beer.
~This building was once the VFW in Red Wing, a place where you could purchase a beer.

The Scoop on Redevelopment
An Update on Exciting New Spots
|
|
The white building known as "Bauer Built" on Old West Main Street has been sitting vacant for quite a while. But positive steps are happening – City Council last night approved the Port Authority's recommendation to work with developer Rebound Partners. Tentative plans include a food hall for locally developed restaurants or local chefs/restaurateurs. To see details, check out this preliminary proposal. More news will follow soon.

Three parcels downtown are being proposed for new apartments – mostly a range of studio, 1-bedroom, and 2-bedroom market-rate units. If the proposal passes, the area where Mike's Barbershop sits on West Fourth Street, plus the upper floor of Hallstrom's, will house the new units. The developer is asking that the three parcels create a new Tax Increment Financing (TIF) district, with TIF assistance from the City. You're invited to a public hearing on the proposal on November 28 at 6 p.m. Watch the TIF presentation the City saw Monday night.
