Redding is picking up momentum as a premier destination in the travel industry. Forbes and ShermansTravel each placed Redding on its “Top Places to Visit 2020” list and Matador Network listed Redding as a " Top 25 Coolest Town in America ." Even the Men’s Journal included Redding in its “10 Presidents’ Day Weekend Ideas for Adventurers” last week.

Have you ever wondered how Redding can attract the attention of prestigious media outlets such as these? That’s where the Redding Visitors Bureau comes in. And we’ll let you in on a little bit of an industry secret…
When you see Redding featured positively in an article outside of the region, there’s a very high chance it stemmed from the media outreach of the Redding Visitors Bureau team. Each of those articles mentioned are what is called “earned media,” meaning we assisted in the publication of the story – whether it’s from hosting a travel writer, providing photos or connecting the author with local contacts. Earned media is part of our overall public relations strategy and the articles appear to travelers in a native and organic way. Since consumers trust brands such as Forbes and Men’s Journal , they’ll trust their opinions and recommendations of where to travel. 
Media outreach includes hosting travel writers to Redding and our team sets them up with a custom itinerary to experience attractions and activities. While they're here, we encourage them to eat and shop local so they can best describe to their audiences why they need to visit Redding.
