Redefining Leadership in STEM: Empowering the Next Generation Through Technology – Meet Ifeyinwa Okafor

This Black History Month, we celebrate the journeys of individuals whose lives embody resilience, excellence, and impact. Ifeyinwa Okafor is a Certified Management Consultant, IT Professional, and Wholeness Coach, she leads with purpose—transforming lives through her work in IT, digital parenting advocacy, and intentional self-care.

What is your personal and professional story?

I am Ifeyinwa Okafor, a Certified Management Consultant, IT Professional, and Wholeness Coach. Growing up as the eldest child in a Nigerian home with three younger siblings, I was raised with high expectations to excel in all I did and to care for others—values that have shaped both my personal and professional life.

Over the years, I’ve taken on diverse roles, from wife and mother to public servant and coach, each requiring a delicate balance. As the Data Center Infrastructure Manager at the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), I lead impactful IT projects, driving efficiency and innovation in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector. My journey also includes founding the Digital Parenting School and expanding my parenting and coaching platforms across several countries, empowering families and individuals to live thriving, intentional lives.

What pivotal experiences shaped your current path?

As my roles evolved from daughter to wife, mother, and professional, I threw myself fully into meeting family needs, achieving results at work, and living up to expectations. However, one critical skill I hadn’t mastered was intentionally caring for myself so I could sustain my ability to give to others.

This reality hit home after a series of life-changing events: losing my mother after her 23-year health battle, facing my own medical diagnosis, navigating the complexities of a post-COVID world, and managing the demands of a new side business. I experienced severe burnout, but fortunately, I was introduced to The Wholeness School. Through the guidance of my coach, I pulled myself out of burnout and learned how to care for myself intentionally while balancing my responsibilities. This experience not only restored my joy and fulfillment but also inspired me to help others.

Since then, I’ve expanded my parenting platforms across several countries and dedicated myself to helping other women achieve balance and thrive while fulfilling their responsibilities. My journey has been a powerful reminder of the importance of intentional self-care as a foundation for service to others.

What are the most valuable lessons you’ve learned about yourself through your life and career?

I’ve learned that resilience and intentional self-care are vital for long-term success. I discovered the power of saying "no" to unnecessary demands and prioritizing tasks that align with my purpose. I’ve also realized that vulnerability and asking for help are strengths, not weaknesses. Finally, I’ve come to appreciate the power of storytelling and its ability to inspire and impact others.

These lessons have enabled me to create a life of balance, fulfillment, and meaningful impact.

What drives your desire to contribute and make a difference?

I’m driven by my passion to impact the world and the next generation by raising wholesome families and developing policies that promote digital responsibility for individuals, families, organizations, and society at large. My own journey of transformation fuels my desire to help others thrive.

I firmly believe that families are the building blocks of any society, and indeed the world. Seeing families and individuals succeed in living intentional, balanced lives inspires me to continue advocating for and creating platforms for positive change.

If you could go back and advise your younger self, what would it be?

I would tell my younger self not to be afraid of "coloring outside the lines," questioning the status quo, or embracing and being my true self completely.

I would also remind myself that it’s okay to take care of myself while striving for excellence. Learn to set boundaries, say "no" when necessary, and prioritize well-being. Trust my instincts, ask for help when needed, and remember that I don’t have to carry everything alone to make a meaningful impact.

How can GlobalMindED support your aspirations and help you achieve your goals?

GlobalMindED can amplify my impact by providing mentorship opportunities, resources, and collaborations to expand my Digital Parenting School platform and my work in wholeness coaching.

I would also appreciate guidance and support in policy advocacy and development for digital responsibility and STEM-focused programs, particularly in schools and organizations in rural and underserved areas, to help reach more families and individuals.

Together, we can create a global community where intentional living and digital responsibility shape a better future for all.
