Guided Meditation Group
Tuesdays in July & August at 3:00 PM
You will be gently guided in body-centered meditations, including mindfulness of breathing and a focus on relaxation of the body at rest. Our guide is Pamala Lewis, who teaches guided meditations and Back Yoga at the Mystic Y, is the co-coordinator of the New London Community of Mindfulness, and is a devoted student and meditation practitioner of more than 25 years. No prior experience necessary.

Painting Workshop with Grab & Go Kits!
Wednesday, August 5th at 4:00 PM
Take a break from your quarantine routine to join us for a virtual paint night with your own free grab & go painting kits! Each kit includes a canvas, paint set, paintbrushes, and sponges. Participants must pick up their paint kits from the Library in the week prior to the scheduled event. Pam Halligan, of  Pam's Picassos , will guide participants through a step-by-step workshop to paint a beautiful beach scene with a sailboat on the water. This program is open to teens and adults.

Twisty Kids: Creative Movement and Yoga for Kids ages 6 - 9!
Every Monday at 10:30 AM in July and August 3rd
Twisty Kids is a fun and non-competitive approach to get kids moving. Children learn creative movement concepts and yoga postures designed with kids' imagination and fun in mind. They will also learn relaxation techniques and practice mindfulness and respect for others in this class lead by Yoga with Miss Kim. Great for ages 6 - 9 years old!

Writing the College Application Essay

Join us for a two-part class on how to write the college essay used on the common application. We will meet using Zoom. This class is intended for high schoolers planning to apply to colleges for the first time in the fall, but it is open to anyone. Parents are welcome to join as well. It's time to conquer your fear of the word essay!

Learn the basics of what makes a strong college application essay. Read essay examples together of the good, the bad, and the just plain bizarre. Participants will then be able to brainstorm about potential topics for their own essays. In the week betweeen classes, students will practice writing a draft based on one, or a couple, of their potential topics.
