Figuring out how much food you need to cook for your holiday guests can be challenging, and it’s easy to end up with more leftovers than you know what to do with. To avoid ending up with a ton of food waste, try using Save The Food's Guest-Imator!
The Guest-Imator takes information such as the number of guests you are expecting, how much they typically eat, and how many leftovers you want, and tells you the amount of each food you need to prepare for your meal. You can even customize the meal according to the dishes you will be serving at your gathering. This can help you save time, money, and cut down on your food waste! Visit Save The Food's website to use the Guest-Imator.
If you do end up with too many leftovers, remember to compost what you don’t eat! Visit our food scraps page on our website for information about home composting and food scrap drop-off sites.
Any empty and clean glass or plastic food or beverage containers greater than 2 inches x 2 inches can be put into your regular curbside recycling. Other regular recyclables include cardboard, paper, and metal/aluminum foil, as long as they meet the size requirement (tip: combine aluminum foil into a ball big enough to recycle).
Smaller pieces of scrap metal and aluminum foil can also be brought to our Additional Recyclables Collection Center for a small volume fee - check out the ARCC page on our website to learn more.
