What Will My Teen Do This Summer?

RHS PTSA Parent Ed

Wednesday, March 12 | 9:00 - 10:30 am

Kreps Conference Room at Redwood

PTSA has assembled a panel of speakers who will provide an overview of various summertime options for teens including employment opportunities, internships, service opportunities, and other enrichment opportunities and resources. We'll hear from Becky Bjursten from RHS College and Career Center, representatives from local organizations looking for volunteers, and employers interested in hiring teens this summer.

If you can't make it in person, there will be a live Zoom Webinar with details coming soon. Open to all parents and caregivers — we hope you'll join us!

We are looking for several volunteers to join the PTSA Nominating Committee. This committee seeks and secures replacements for members who have completed their terms on the PTSA executive board.

All responsibilities take place February through April so it’s a short term commitment. Meetings will take place virtually. Joining the committee is a great way to help the PTSA without being involved in a year-long (or multi-year-long) project.

If you can help with this effort, please contact Jessica Edelen.

Volunteers Needed for Measure B

Citizens' Oversight Committee

When the voters passed Measure B, a requirement of that ballot measure is the establishment of a Citizens' Oversight Committee, whose seven person membership would include:

  • a parent member with a student in school within the district, and

  • a parent member with a student in school within the district who is also a member of a parent/teacher/student (PTSA) organization.

Please see the link below for details about the role of the Oversight Committee and to access the application form.

The state has imposed a short timeline for the establishment of this committee and applications must be submitted by February 1st.

The Redwood PTSA is excited to start preparing for senior grad night, which will be held on Thursday, June 12th! We are looking for volunteers (preferably parents who do not have Seniors) to help us with this event and make the night unforgettable.

In past years, this event required dozens of volunteers and hundreds of volunteer hours to pull off. Last year, we revamped the event to make it much simpler, shorter and less volunteer heavy. That said, we still need parent volunteers to help plan and coordinate this simpler format.

We need help with the following roles:

- Communicating with the venue (it has already been reserved)

- Venue Decor

- Coordinating student forms and releases

- Security

- Bus reservations

- Marketing

- Coordinating parent volunteers

If you are interested in volunteering or would like to learn more about how you can contribute, please contact redwoodhsptsa@gmail.com. Your help will ensure a smooth and fun evening for our seniors as they celebrate this huge milestone in their lives.

Unfortunately, if we cannot get the volunteers needed to put this event on, our special grad night tradition will not be able to continue. I know we all want our kids to get to experience this rite of passage so please help us ensure we can put it on. We so appreciate it and look forward to working with you to make grad night a success!
