IMPORTANT REMINDERS
from our Activities Director
Parents and Students:
Below are some reminders about the attendance and academic requirements to participate in Extracurriculars at RAHS. This is not a comprehensive list, and parents with questions should review the Code of Conduct found on the school’s website or contact the Activities Department with your questions.
ATTENDANCE: A student may participate in a co-curricular activity only if in attendance the entire day of the event (practice and/or contest) unless other arrangements are made through the Principal’s and/or Activities Director’s office prior to the event. He/she is expected to attend school for the entire day following the event. If not, the same restrictions apply as stated above.
Excuses, which provide for exceptions to the attendance rule:
- family emergencies
- medical appointments
- dental/ orthodontic appointments
- clinical appointments
- school-sponsored trips
- funerals
- early dismissals for school-sponsored activities
- exercising of voting rights
NOTE: Deer hunting is NOT an exception.
ACADEMICS: To be academically eligible, a student must be passing all of his/her classes at the most recent grading period.
Academic Ineligibility: 2 or more F’s in the most recent grading period. Ineligible to compete for the first 15 days of the season. A student can regain eligibility by raising all grades to passing levels after 15 days. The student will remain on academic probation for the remainder of the season. If the student, at any time during the season/activity, has an “F” in any class, the student will be considered immediately ineligible from practice/competition.
Academic Probation: If a student has 1 F in the most recent grading period, that student will be placed on academic probation. During the first 15 days, the student will be eligible for practice and competitions. At the end of the 15 days, the student's grades will be checked, and if s/he is failing any course, they will be ineligible to compete until all grades are brought to a passing level.
Thank you,
Mr. May
Activities Director
