A New Beginning - Welcome 2021
|
|
We finally made it to the end of 2020, and what a year it was! Here’s hoping for better things in 2021.
January always has a flurry of activities, and this year is no different.
We will have the end of 1st semester on the 22nd, and begin 2nd semester on the 25th. Due to COVID related issues we will not be having our usual three-day final exam schedule, nor will we be having final exams. If you have scheduling issues for 2nd semester, please contact a school counselor as soon as possible.
We remain in the hybrid format for the time being, and we’re hoping we don’t see a spike in virus issues following the holidays. Please be vigilant in wearing a mask, it absolutely helps. We continue to do all we can with social distancing and wearing masks here at school, at all times.
Winter activities are in full swing. At this time we are not allowing spectators at our events but we hope to be able to do so soon. Be sure to catch all the action streaming online, go Beavers!
We will use virtual instruction should we have to cancel school for inclement weather. Please pay attention to your Google Classroom for directions from teachers if this occurs. And don’t worry, we promise to leave enough time on any virtual snow days to make a fantastic snowman. Who knows, perhaps that’ll even be part of an assignment for a class.
Please continue to check the RAHS website, your child's Google Classroom and Skyward Gradebook, as well as the district Facebook page for information regarding what we're doing here. And as always, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please let me know.
Take care, be safe, stay healthy and have a great January!
Rob Taylor, Principal

Nurse Notes: Wishing You a Healthy New Year!
by: Lucinda Erbs, School Nurse

As we begin the new year, we need a moment to pause and reflect on our safety and staying healthy. Here are a few answers to frequently asked questions I receive.
What does it mean to Quarantine?
Quarantine is when people who have been exposed to COVID-19 stay separate from others, even if they do not feel sick or have symptoms. Quarantine helps limit the further spread of COVID-19, as someone can unknowingly spread COVID-19 before symptoms develop. Simply that means staying home, not going to school, work, second job, shopping, or gathering with others that are not in your household through Day 14.
Who should Quarantine?
People who have been identified as a close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. You are a close contact if any of the following occurred:
- You were within 6 feet of someone who has COVID-19 for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over the course of 24 hours.
- You had direct physical contact with the person (handshake, hugged, or kissed them).
- They sneezed, coughed, or somehow got respiratory droplets on you.
- You live with the person or stayed overnight with the person.
How long does my child Quarantine when named a close contact?
At the December 2020 School Board meeting the decision was made to continue with the best practice of the 14-day quarantine.
Although, the CDC has released new options to reduce the length of quarantine using symptom monitoring and diagnostic testing. However, there is an increased risk of spreading COVID-19 if it is not followed accurately. Therefore, the safest strategy for our district to prevent the spread of COVID-19 remains that close contacts quarantine for a full 14 days after exposure to a positive individual.

Students are nominated by teachers monthly. Each student nominated receives recognition in the local papers.

|
The School District of Reedsburg will hold virtual learning on days that would otherwise be lost to school closure (ie. inclement weather), which should eliminate the need to make up lost instructional hours later in the school year.

Class Schedule Changes: The deadline to request Semester 2 schedule changes was December 22. In January, changes will only be made for students with Semester 2 scheduling errors or if credit remediation is required. Please contact a school counselor if you have questions about your child’s class schedule.
- Students continuing and/or switching to all virtual may not be permitted to take certain classes due to the hands-on nature or materials needed. If this pertains to your student, please reach out to a school counselor as soon as possible to discuss alternative course options. If the counseling office does not hear from you or your student prior to the start of Semester 2, a study hall(s) will be placed in their schedule.
-
