ReelAbilites Film Festival Comes to the Cinema Arts Centre April 7th
The Cinema Arts Centre has served as a venue for the ReelAbilities Film Festival for over 10 years. On Sunday, April 7th, ReelAbilites brings two great films to the Cinema Arts Centre:

Sunday, April 7 at 12 PM
$11 Members | $16 Public

Dan Habib's brave new documentary challenges what it means to be intelligent, and points to a future in which people of all abilities can fully participate in higher education, meaningful employment, and intimate relationships.

Sunday, April 7 at 3 PM
$11 Members | $16 Public

Recently diagnosed with bipolar disorder, the drummer of a rock band strikes up an unusual friendship with an institutionalized teen with Asperger's syndrome.

The ReelAbilities Film Festival is dedicated to promoting awareness and appreciation of the lives, stories and artistic expressions of people with different abilities, which is in perfect alignment with the mission and values of the Cinema Arts Centre. We are proud to have served as a venue for ReelAbilities films since the festival's early days.

We hope you will join us and stay after the film for discussion.

Seat Replacement Update
Good news! The Cinema Arts Centre has received funding to cover half the cost of our seat replacement project from the New York State Council on the Arts. Combined with gifts from our community and the purchase of seat plaques, we are very close to fully funding our project, and are in contract to complete the project by the end of the year. It's been a long journey, but we are finally almost there.

Our seats in Theaters One and two are very old and worn. Because the models are so old, there is no service or replacement parts for them, and they are difficult to maintain. We have heard from many of you that they are not comfortable seats, and they don't have cup holders! In 2016, we were made a great offer on used seats that would have been an improvement and a bargain, so we began to raise funds. However, the seller was forced to rescind that offer. We were left with a few thousand dollars of donations designated for seat replacement, and no seats!

So we decided to get new seats, and began selling seat plaques to raise the funds, while applying for additional funding. Thanks to many generous donors, and the New York State Council on the Arts, we are only about $20,000 away from fully funding this project - which we will complete in 2019.

We thank you all for your patience as we move forward to make this necessary and important upgrade. We will update you again when we have more specific news about our timeline.
Special Thanks to all those who have supported our seat replacement project with a major gift or purchase of a seat plaque:
