COVID-19 IMPACT ON IMPORT/EXPORT
APPLICATION PROCESSING
The COVID-19 outbreak is impacting every corner of our lives, from school, to work, government operations, and everything in between. All of us here at Reeves & Dola wish you all good health, humor, and perseverance.
In terms of U.S. Government authorizations for exports and imports, the reports we have from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the U.S. Department of State Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, and the U.S. Department of Commerce Bureau of Industry and Security, are that all are operating and processing applications as usual. However, industry should expect some delays in processing times, so try
to plan accordingly and allow for some flexibility and understanding as we all try to work through this unique situation.
Upcoming ITAR-EAR Transition Alerts from Reeves & Dola
In addition to the challenges of COVID-19, the firearms and ammunition industries are in week two of operating under the new export controls that went into effect on March 9. We are preparing a series of alerts on issues and questions we have already seen pop up regarding the Export Administration Regulations, including the Additional Permissive Reexports license exception and the Direct Product Rule. So, stay tuned.
