ANCA CPR Program Inspires More Collaboration
When the ANCA launched our Center for Pandemic Response (ANCA CPR) in 2021, small businesses across the region faced unprecedented challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic and economic crisis. Over the following two years, this innovative business resilience program would tap into ANCA’s regional networks and knowledge of the North Country business community to serve the needs of over 300 businesses and nonprofits.

Lessons Learned
In ANCA's latest What's Up North Blog, ANCA CPR Program Navigator Mahala Nyberg reflects on the two-year project, the businesses who participated in it, the partners who supported it, and the ways we are using lessons and experiences from this work to inform future programming.
We also invite you to read the final report to ANCA CPR funding partners at the U.S. Economic Development Administration and Mastercard, where we share success stories from the program.

Over 300 Business Served
"In the midst of the pandemic crisis, ANCA had the agility to respond rapidly to the immediate needs of local businesses. Their outstanding programming embodied the vision of our CARES Act funding, and their dedication ensured that these essential resources reached our hardworking American business owners during a truly challenging time.” ~ U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand

NYSERDA Clean Energy Communities 3.0 launches
Last week, Governor Kathy Hochul announced the latest round of NYSERDA’s Clean Energy Communities (CEC) Program. "CEC 3.0" includes new and larger grant opportunities for municipalities to advance clean energy and energy efficiency projects in their communities, and easier ways for our region's towns, villages, cities and counties to earn grant funding, complete clean energy actions, and save taxpayers' dollars.
As CEC Coordinators for the North Country, ANCA Energy Circuit Riders invite communities in Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Hamilton, Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence Counties to participate in the latest CEC round. Contact us at energy@adirondack.org to get involved.

Heat Pumps at Pisgah
Thanks to all who came out to Mt. Pisgah Lodge in Saranac Lake to hear ANCA and Village staff speak about the benefits and logistics of installing heat pumps in your home or business.
The Village of Saranac Lake is a designated Clean Energy Community and bronze-certified Climate Smart Community that has implemented a number of projects aimed at reducing carbon emissions and saving taxpayer dollars. At Mt. Pisgah, the Village has installed heat pumps, converted to energy-efficient LED lighting and purchased electric landscaping equipment. Officials also plan to install an EV charging station, purchase an electric snowmobile and update snowmaking equipment for Mt. Pisgah’s ski area.

Bill Supports Commission of Reparations
Earlier this week, Governor Kathy Hochul signed a bill that enables the creation of a commission for exploring reparations for New Yorkers who suffered under slavery.
"A motion of Reparations to address generations of political, economic, and physical trauma is a just act. Reparations have been paid out abroad and at home for years with meaningful and impactful results, so I resoundingly give my support to the spirit of Governor Hochul's Community Commission of Reparations Remedies. Our state motto, Excelsior, exhorts us to aim 'Ever Upward' and the Governor's new commission is an excellent step in that direction."
