Dear Chieftain Community,
As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude to our students, families, and staff. Every day, I see the dedication, kindness, and hard work that make our schools such a special place to learn and grow.
This season is a wonderful reminder to pause, reflect, and appreciate the people and moments that make a difference in our lives. Thank you for your continued support, your commitment to learning, and for being part of the Logan-Hocking Schools family. I hope you all enjoy a safe and joyful Thanksgiving.

| | Winter Weather Guidelines | | |
As temperatures drop and winter weather becomes more unpredictable, the Logan-Hocking School District wants families to understand how decisions are made when conditions may impact the school day. Student safety aways remains the district's top priority.
How Decisions Are Made:
District leaders review a variety of factors, including:
- National Weather Service updates on temperature, wind chill, and snowfall/ice.
-
Special attention to temperatures at 0oF or below, or wind chills -10oF or lower.
- Road checks begin as early as 3:30 a.m. to assess driving conditions.
- Updates from the transportation department regarding bus safety.
- Input from city, county, and state officials on road conditions.
- Conversations with neighboring school districts.
Who Makes the Call?
The superintendent makes the final decision to delay, dismiss early, or close schools, based on all relevant information gathered. The decision to delay or close school is made as early as possible, to allow families time to adjust morning routines and make necessary arrangements.
How Families Are Notified:
- The district website
- District X and Facebook pages
- School Messenger phone calls
- Local TV and radio
