A note from the President to
ACPM Fellows and Members
Scott Spencer, DPM, FACPM
It is once again a pleasure to be able to address you as President of the Board of Directors for the American College of Podiatric Medicine. I think we can all agree that my time as President occurred during one of the most challenging times in our lifetimes. If you had told me on January 1st of 2020 that your term would run simultaneously with a pandemic, and just about all responsibilities and/or interactions would have to be conducted remotely, I never would have believed you.
However, with all that we have had to face, our organization has continued to grow and thrive. As always, there is much that we as a board wish to accomplish to make our organization the standard bearer for professional education; but we should also be very proud of where our organization is heading.
July was a special month for me personally and for the ACPM. During the APMA National Conference, I had the privilege to present all the accomplishments we have achieved to the APMA Board of Trustees. I am proud to report that ACPM is the largest affiliate organization for the APMA. No small feet!
(pun very much intended)
We as a board were able to conduct an in-person members meeting with a virtual component. If you were not in attendance at the National, hopefully you were able to attend virtually.
Past-President, Dr. Dan Evans and current BOD Member, Dr. John Tassone delivered some of the best lectures of the National. Additionally, we were able to conduct a reception in conjunction with the American Board of Podiatric Medicine that was extremely well-attended. A major highlight for me was being able to present past APMA President, Dr. Seth Rubinstein and current APMA President, Dr. Jeffrey DeSantis with honorary memberships to the ACPM.
With all the wonderful things we have been able to accomplish, we are not stopping.
We encourage you to participate in submitting lectures to the e-Learning POD. We also would love to hear from you if you are interested in becoming active in one of our committees. We need you!
Lastly, we are very excited to announce that ACPM will be getting back to the live CME arena! Keep your eyes open for messaging regarding our upcoming, 4-Hour CECH online seminar - Updates in Biomechanics: Practical Pearls.
This mini seminar will focus on biomechanics and sports medicine. Two areas that are not covered a great deal in other meetings.
I cannot tell you what an honor it is for me to represent ACPM as your President. I cannot thank all of you enough for choosing to be a part of our organization. Additionally, I cannot thank your Board of Directors enough for all the hard work they have put in to ensuring our organization is a viable and relevant organization. We have only great things ahead.
- Scott
