NEWS & UPDATES

Welcoming our next Executive Director!

Project Safeguard is thrilled to welcome Jody Curl as our next Executive Director, starting January 2, 2024! Jody comes to us with 34 years of experience in nonprofit management and a passion for our mission. Most recently, she served as the Director of Programs for the Crisis Center in Douglas County, a domestic violence agency providing Emergency Shelter, Community-Based Advocacy, Therapy, and Legal Advocacy to victims and survivors of domestic violence. Jody spent 10 years in that role and 3 years as the agency’s Shelter Director. Her experience in this field, expertise in leading nonprofit programs and staff, and ability to build strong relationships in the community will no doubt be an asset to Project Safeguard. Jody prioritizes Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) in her work and personal life and is committed to collaborative leadership, which we value highly as an organization. She listens and responds to the changing needs of staff and clients and works to empower those around her to continuously learn and grow, while working to do the same herself. In addition to working in domestic violence services, Jody has extensive experience supporting adults with physical and intellectual disabilities and those providing direct services to this population. We are excited for her to apply her skills and knowledge to shape the future direction of Project Safeguard!

We are also grateful for all that our current Executive Director, Jennifer Eyl, has done for Project Safeguard in her five years with the organization, and for the larger field of victim services. Jennifer has dedicated nearly 30 years to this work and her contributions cannot be overstated. She has provided leadership to programs and organizations serving survivors of gender-based violence, shared her knowledge to help shape survivor-centered laws and policies, served as an expert witness in civil and criminal cases involving gender-based violence, and so much more. Jennifer will continue working with Project Safeguard through the end of January, 2024, and we wish her all the best in her future endeavors!

Colorado Gives Day is just around the corner!

Have you supported your favorite nonprofits yet?

In Colorado, the biggest giving day of the year is December 5, but you don't need to wait until then to make a donation...early giving is already underway! Any donations made via www.ColoradoGives.org between November 1st and December 5th will qualify for prizes and incentives. We know you have many options for giving and hope you will consider making a contribution to Project Safeguard this year.

Have you checked out our Theory of Change?

Earlier this year, we had the opportunity to participate in the "Create Your Theory of Change" training cohort hosted by Social Venture Partners (SVP) Denver. Over the course of about two months, we received education and coaching to help us describe the impact of our work on survivors of gender-based violence. While many people might think of our work as being measured by whether or not the folks we serve receive the court outcomes they are hoping for, like obtaining a civil protection order or being granted custody of their children, we know that the impact of our services goes far beyond that. There are many variables at play for survivors interacting with the civil legal system and we cannot make promises about what will happen in court, but we can work alongside our clients to make the civil legal process less daunting. Developing our Theory of Change helped us think about all of the ways we hope to impact the lives of survivors and the legal systems they engage with. This process was invaluable for the organization and we are proud to share the finished product with our community! We can't recommend SVP Denver's training cohorts highly enough for organization's seeking clarity and ideas on how to communicate their impact to the world.

Our offices will be closed for the last two weeks of December

All PSG offices will be closed from Monday, December 18 through Monday, January 1. Our emails and voicemails will not be monitored during this time, but we will respond to messages as soon as possible after we return on Tuesday, January 2.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we take time to rest and prepare for the new year. We hope that you have the chance to slow down and take a break, too.

Anyone needing immediate assistance while we are closed can reach out to:

SafeHouse Denver (24/7 hotline for survivors of domestic violence): 303-318-9989

The Blue Bench (24/7 hotline for survivors of sexual assault): 303-322-7273

The Rose Andom Center will also be operating during this time, with the exception of December 25, 26, and January 1. They can be reached Monday through Friday at 720-337-4400.

Other ways you can support Project Safeguard throughout the year

Many nonprofits rely heavily on year-end giving from individual donors, which is why you get bombarded with emails asking you to give in November and December.

For some people, making a smaller monthly donation is more budget-friendly, and helps provide sustainable funding for nonprofits.

It's easy to make a one-time or recurring donation to Project Safeguard through our Colorado Gives 365 page.

The King Soopers/City Market Community Rewards Program makes fundraising easy by donating to local organizations based on the shopping you do! Here’s how it works:

Login to your King Soopers or City Market account, click on Community Rewards, and search for Project Safeguard by name or use the code KQ344. Once you have linked your card, all you have to do is shop at King Soopers and scan your Shopper’s Card!
