Reflection from Our Pastors

Be Bold in Christ
"We gave you strict orders did we not,
to stop teaching in that name. (the name of Jesus)
Yet you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching
and want to bring this man's blood upon us."
But Peter and the Apostles said in reply,
"We must obey God rather than men…
We are witnesses of these things,
as is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey him."
(Acts 5: 27-33)
The Sadducees had already arrested Peter and John for healing and preaching not long ago, letting them off with a warning not to do any more teaching about Jesus. Yet, the apostles went right back to the temple to teach about the resurrection of Jesus, and to call the Jews to repent and return to God. They were obeying God, rather than men.
They were acting with complete boldness. This boldness was given to them by the Holy Spirit in answer to their prayers. The apostles testify that they have witnessed these acts of God, and that the Holy Spirit is with them.
And now, Peter, John, and the other ten apostles are daily visiting the same walkway, healing people, bringing in crowds from all over the city, from out of town, and healing every single one of them, all at the doorstep of those who have threatened them with punishment. The apostles are bold, which is an empowerment given them by the Holy Spirit.
On Sunday, April 27, our guest presider was Fr. Frank Quintana. His message to us as Christians, as people who manifest Christ, was that we are to be bold. “We are called to make noise,” he said, “to make good trouble; to stand up, speak up, love each other, and to be brave in the face of our fears.” “The power that rose Jesus from the dead,” said Fr. Frank, “is the same power that dwells within each of us.”
We, then, are empowered to continue Christ’s mission of healing and teaching and praising God through the sacramental life. We are all ambassadors to a world in desperate need of Christ. Let us not ration our gift of the Spirit.
Please listen to Fr. Frank’s homily here.
Blessings,
Mother Rosean

Thank you, everyone!
On behalf of the administration at ISAAC and the immigrant community that ISAAC serves, I want to thank the Mary of Magdala community for your exceeding generosity through our Lenten almsgiving boxes project. The total donation to ISAAC was $5817.00. All the money will go into ISAAC’s Emergency Accompaniment to support families in crisis due to unjust deportations and oppressions. The fund provides cash assistance for mom’s and kids whose breadwinner has been deported or cannot work for fear of being arrested, for legal aid, and to stand up ISAAC’s emergency response in a host of other ways. Thank you, thank you! Your kindness matters.

The Liturgy Committee Requests Your Input
The Mary of Magdala Liturgy Committee was formed with both lay and clergy to ensure the parishioners can continue to engage with the Mass and deepen their faith and relationships with God.
Liturgy can take many forms. Periodically, we review our worship service (liturgy) content to ensure it remains meaningful for members, balancing tradition with evolving ecumenical beliefs. Our philosophy is to seek, enrich, and expand our understanding and practice of worship.
We are asking for feedback on the necessity, length, and the clarity of the liturgy and the engagement with the themes of our special liturgies. And this year we want to explore the possibility of hosting short discussions prior to mass on the readings, gospel and spirituality.
Please respond to the survey HERE THIS WEEK!
We want to hear from ALL voices within our community.
