Dear Friend of the Charles River,

During this critical time of unrest following the horrific deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and others, we cannot stay silent. Black lives matter, and we stand in support of the protesters in Boston and around the country.

As stewards of the Charles River parks, we believe in the power public places have to connect people of all backgrounds and strengthen our societal fabric. We strive to make spaces that invite and engage all in their use and stewardship. But this is impossible without equity.

We are grateful for the leadership of the  NAACP  and  ACLU , among others, and are looking inwards to assess how we can prioritize anti-racism in our work. The Charles River parks belong to everyone, and we are listening and learning in order to better ensure that they truly serve all communities. We hope you will join us.

Sincerely,

Charles River Conservancy Staff & Board
