Reflections by the Rev. Lou Hays: An Attitude of Gratitude

Many of you were with us for our wonderful brunch on November 2 with the Rev. Derrick Fetz. It was, as I like to say, a great example of food, fun and fellowship at Trinity. If you were there, you will remember the interesting exercise that Derrick led us through. He asked, “in a word or two, what are you grateful for about Trinity?” There were many responses, such as best friends, resting in God, new family, joy, connection, food, community, service, family, recovery and belonging. Every response reflected gratitude and thanksgiving on the part of the person who responded. And then Derrick asked us to reflect as he prayed over the long list, thanking God for each response.

It was a joyful exercise. There is so much to be thankful for at and about Trinity Episcopal Church. It really put us all in an attitude of gratitude. And I hope everyone who has or who is about to pledge for the coming year is doing so with an attitude of gratitude. We give thanks to God through our giving for all of our blessings. Sunday marks the formal wrap-up of our gratitude campaign. It will be my great privilege to bless the pledges at the altar this Sunday. Your pledges will do great things for this parish and the people we serve. To paraphrase our campaign theme, together you will secure the bright future of Trinity, with gratitude!

Peace and blessings,

Lou+

Pledge Online

You can also click here to submit your 2026 pledge online. If you use the online pledge form you do not need to return the paper pledge card.

Reminder: Send Mail to Trinity's P.O. Box,

Not the Street Address

As a reminder, all mail sent to Trinity must be sent to our P.O. Box or it will be held/returned by the postal service. We use the post office box because it is a reliable and safe way to receive our mail since the parish office is not open every day.

We recently received a large batch of mail addressed to Trinity's street address which the postal service had been re-routing/holding on to (the oldest was mailed in December 2024!).

Trinity's Mailing Address:

Trinity Episcopal Church

P.O. Box 851

Hamilton, OH 45012

One item included in the batch of old mail we just received was a thank you card from Herm Lorance for the celebration of his 100th birthday earlier this year during a Sunday morning service. We thought we'd share this sweet note from Herm with you below.

Exploring the Mystery and Joy of Advent

Begins November 30

Please join us for this three-week series starting the First Sunday of Advent, November 30. We will gather in the Memorial Room for about 30 minutes of presentation and discussion. We will explore this frequently misunderstood and under-appreciated season that begins the new liturgical year. What are the symbols and practices for Advent? What is Advent, theologically and personally? We will reflect on how Advent can enrich our spiritual lives and help make us more hopeful and joyful. Worship with us at 9:30 and then grab a cuppa and join us to explore the mystery and joy of Advent.

ECW Cookie Sale on December 14

and Cookie Tray Assembly on December 13

Trinity's ECW will be having their annual cookie sale on Sunday, December 14! Everyone is invited to donate cookies for the sale and to help assemble the cookie trays at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 13. We have a great time of fun and fellowship putting the trays together!

A big thank you to Pam Hurst for organizing this year's event! If you have questions about the sale, please contact Pam at pamh90@yahoo.com.

You're Invited: Foraging for Advent Event at Procter Center

Saturday, November 29 from 3-5:30 p.m.

Attend this Diocese-wide event at Procter Center which will explore the Advent season through exploration of our natural world.

This fun event for all ages includes:

  • Foraging and hiking around Lake Leo in search of branches, berries, pinecones, and more to build and decorate our Advent wreaths
  • S’Mores & Hot Chocolate Bar
  • Candle Making
  • Blessing of the Advent Wreaths
  • Games

This event is great for individuals, church groups, community groups, families, couples, and more. Anyone and everyone is invited; minors must be accompanied by their responsible adults.

Bring a warm coat and gloves, some shoes for easy hiking, and a friend! We’ll provide the tools needed for cutting shrubbery and the bases for building the wreaths. Enjoy hot cocoa by the fire, roast some s’mores, and build a beautiful wreath to enjoy all of Advent.

Click here to register for this event. The cost is $10 per household. There is no deadline to register.

Procter Center is located at 11235 State Route 38 SE, London, OH 43140. Questions about the event? Contact Procter Center at 740-490-6025 or info@proctercenter.org.
