Dane County is seeing many changes. New leadership in the local Madison School District, the office of the Dane County Executive, and Madison College. Wisconsin most recently became a national technology hub, primed for changes in the employment sector.

This is why, as the Latinx community continues to evolve, Centro recommits to our important work of ensuring a sense of belonging, in school districts, employment sectors and institutions of higher education. Amidst these changes, we cannot ensure a thriving community alone, but this Fall we can recommit to leading together

Creating Belonging with a New School Year

With September, summer fades and the school year begins. The familiar airs of change and bittersweetness of returning to the classroom sets in. Nonetheless, there is an excitement of seeing friends, learning new things, and fresh starts.

To facilitate a smooth transition back to school for families and students, our Youth Coordinators organized a meaningful celebration that provided Centro’s students with essential school supplies. They created an atmosphere of community and support, encouraging, listening to, and uplifting the Latinx youth at Centro.

Raising Your Voice

Centro hosted “Una Tarde con Denice Frohman” to dream and reflect on our power, our identity, our collective Latinx heritage and our voice in the social justice work that we do in Dane County.

Thank you, Denice, for reminding us that our ancestors' wisdom lives within us and using our voice to share their stories is how we honor our community and advocate for change.

Kicking Off the Latinx in Tech Program

On September 23rd, the Latinx in Tech program proudly welcomed a new cohort of 12 dedicated students and a new instructor in Marco Manuzza.

This exciting course continues its mission to empower participants as they work toward obtaining coveted Google Certifications, ranging from UX Design to Management.

Under Marco's leadership, students receive not only expert instruction but also the motivation and tools to reach their professional goals. With a focus on building brighter futures, the program is committed to providing the skills and confidence necessary to thrive in the tech industry.
