Reflections with Fr. Mark
Dear Parishioners,

Khrushchev declared in his day that the United States would fall not because of an “enemy” outside but from within itself.  Perhaps many of us feel that is happening before our eyes in these past weeks.  All that America has been in its history seems to be under review, attack, removal or under congressional study.  No one seems to want to take a stand and defend history (not the actions of historical figures, necessarily).  We seem to watch the seemingly uneducated masses (although many have degrees) who attack arbitrarily and without justification.  Well, folks, there are many sides to many arguments and the same thing happened in the time of Jesus.

Jesus warned his disciples, “I am sending you like sheep in the midst of wolves; so be shrewd as serpents and simple as doves.” In other words, Jesus does not send them out in ignorance.  He warned them (us) what we were/are going to face.  We are to go armed with his wisdom and truth and to be innocent in representing him.  We are not sheep being led to slaughter; rather, the Truth will always set us free.

What do you stand for?

Be assured of our prayers for you each day as we continue our journey together and apart.

Blessings,

Fr. Mark
