Reflections with Fr. Mark
Today, we celebrate the Memorial of Jerome Emiliani, who was a priest we might look to when we are feeling isolated, imprisoned and alone. He discovered God in the ultimate isolation of imprisonment and when he was set free, he became a priest and dedicated his life to the abandoned of his age in 16th Century Venice. He looked after the orphans and prostitutes as well.  There may be times when we feel abandoned, imprisoned and alone; yet God still looks after us.

In the scriptures today, Jesus brings healing through the throng that follows him.  They have faith that if they were to just touch a tassel on his cloak, they would be restored to fullness of life.  As we continue our journey of life and faith, we might picture Jesus’ healing hand outstretched to lift us up and carry us from our despair into his healing light.

Spiritual Reflection: “Reach out and touch the garment of God.”
