Dear Parishioners,
“Whoever receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward.” Jesus wants us to love God and our neighbor. We know it is easy to love family members and others most of the time; however, he wants us to “love” even our enemy.
Now he is sounding a bit ridiculous, but he is commanding us to have our priorities in order. Often a prophet was rejected by those he/she was/is sent to carry a message. Many times, they were maltreated or killed. Their message rejected or discarded. Jesus is the prophet of God’s merciful love and was sent to bring glad tidings to us, the poor: He, too, was killed! Unlike other prophets who died, Jesus rose again and the Word continues to live among us.
How do we allow the Message to live within us and be shared with those to whom we are sent?
Be assured of our prayers for you each day as we continue our journey together and apart.
Blessings,
Fr. Mark
