Dear Parishioners,
Jesus warns us not to judge others harshly or to elevate ourselves above others. Our scriptures today state, “The measure with which you measure will be measured out to you.” While this may be an ominous warning, it really comes down to self-awareness.
We need to be aware of ourselves only in terms of judgement. We need to prevent ourselves from falling into the trap of self-deception. A person who is self-aware is more aware of their own short comings as they approach the weaknesses found in others.
These past weeks and months have been difficult for the entire globe. We are facing closure of businesses, schools and churches. Many of us may want to shut down politician offices altogether. LOL. We are going to have rough days ahead and we will need to be united in facing the storms ahead.
This pandemic is not over, and we will be living through the aftershock for at least the next year or so. This is life as we know it and it will continue this way for a long time. We need to decide now how to reconcile ourselves with this reality.
Let us move in the direction of gratitude and hope.
Blessings,
Fr. Mark
