Reflections with Fr. Mark
Dear Parishioners,

Pope Francis said that living the Beatitudes means “going against the flow” of the world.  Often, as Christians, we are called to be “counter-cultural.”  I certainly can recall moments when I have gone against the flow, especially when the flow was more like lemmings heading toward the proverbial cliffside.

Jesus spoke the Beatitudes to unsettle and challenge us, especially when we have fallen into complacency and entitlement.  This can be summed up in the notion that we deserve something or “we have always done it this way.”  Of course, any intelligent person knows there is nothing true about this statement and that all things change, and nothing has ever been “done the same way” for all eternity.  Life is about growing and changing.

Today, I celebrate 29 years of priestly ordination.  Where did the time go?  Have I changed in the past 29 years?  Absolutely, yes!  As I continue my journey of change and challenge, I ask for your prayers for my health in mind, body and spirit as we pursue living out the Beatitudes or seeking an Attitude of Being that is in line with the Gospel.

Blessings,

Fr. Mark

For those wishing to continue to view the mass at home, we will have a “Drive-thru” Communion Reception Line at Noon on Sundays for the foreseeable future beginning Sunday, June 14.

We will only be out in the parking lot for this option for 20 minutes. Please arrive on time and begin a car line down Cloverly Avenue and into the Church parking lot. We will direct you from there. Please DO NOT park or get out of your car.

Please wear your face covering as we approach the car. We will distribute communion into your hand and then you may remove your mask and receive the Eucharist. Please drive off safely. God Bless.
