Today in our scriptures we encounter two women caught in the act of adultery. The penalty for such an act is death. Yet, in both cases, we witness the man sent by God overrule the written law in favor of mercy and forgiveness.
The forgiveness offered is the very extension of the healing hand of God raising up the fallen into the dignity of one called a child of God. Such forgiveness is not an act or superficial swift hug and a kiss, but the beginning of a profoundly new relationship. Are we prepared for such an act in our own lives?
Spiritual Reflection: “How do I embrace the challenge of forgiveness and of being forgiven?”
