Reflections with Fr. Mark
Dear Parishioners,

Keeping it real!  Jesus goes after hypocrites for their duplicity.  Hypocrisy is defined as “the practice of claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one’s own behavior does not conform.”

These are the readings from scripture that make us all squirm in the pew or presider’s chair!  LOL!  Jesus spends some time calling out the religious establishment of his day (and ours) for legalizing and burdening rather than practicing the Law of Love.

Jesus says, “Even so, on the outside you appear righteous, but inside you are filled with hypocrisy and evildoing.  Woe to you…you hypocrites.” I don’t know about you but that is when you stare straight ahead in church and don’t cast an eye toward anyone else.  Right?  LOL!

So, the solution is to move beyond our hidden or not so hidden list of critiques, like little pinpricks, that can easily deflate a joyful spirit.

The Lord bless and keep you…. keeping it real!

Blessings,

Fr. Mark
