In life there are always the good guys and the bad guys! And, so too, in our scriptural journey we encounter the same. In today’s gospel, Jesus once again is confronted by an accusation from the religious leaders of his day. Jesus is being accused of not keeping the Sabbath holy by doing works. It did not matter that he was doing “good” works or the work of the Father God—he was offending the religious sticklers of his time. We have those today, too!
As we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day today, relax in the arms of Jesus and do a good work or two. If you find yourself tempted to celebrate – good! Jesus is at work in our lives. Sunday Sabbath and daily sabbaths are good moments…enjoy them without becoming a prisoner to the law.
Spiritual Reflection: “Christ shield me this day: Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me. Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ in the heart of every person who thinks of me, Christ in every eye that sees me, Christ in every ear that hears me.”
